Why Brands Need Professional Photography - Part 1

Have you ever been looking for a service provider, checked out their website and were completely turned off by it?

Did you end up hiring them? I'm going to venture a guess: probably not.

I think we can all agree that having a solid website is a very important part of your brand. Not having a website in this day and age is not even an option.

But having good content on your website is even more important. The message you communicate is important, but you’re not going to make an impact with words alone. Strong visuals are essential to stand out. The images you use can say a lot about you.

Bad photography can turn potential clients off.

Let’s say you’re a construction company who talks about quality control and how awesome your attention to detail is. Are you demonstrating that with your brand visuals? Because using photography that doesn’t demonstrate attention to detail will work against you, rather than for you.

Which of these images leaves a better impression?

Images Make an Impact

You’ve probably heard that a picture is worth 1,000 words right? But did you know we interpret images 60,000 times faster than text? We can interpret the message an image is giving us in seconds.

That's why good photography can make a powerful first impression. It can also be a way to build trust with potential clients before you’ve even met. Think about it this way: Your website is often your first point of contact with potential clients. What do you want that experience to be like? Is that something you want to cut corners on?

Images That Are Unique to Your Brand

Custom brand photography creates images nobody else has. It’s your chance to differentiate yourself from your competitors.

Yes, there are plenty of stock photo sites out there, and many of them are even free. But guess what? Those are the same images everyone else has access to as well. How many times have you seen the same image used on social media to represent different companies?

Plus it can be very frustrating and time consuming to sort through thousands of images to find ones that fit your brand. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I went out on my own. In my career as a graphic designer, I found myself spending a great deal of time trying to find the right images or fix other photographer’s images that didn’t quite fit. I knew I could save companies time and effort by creating the right custom images specifically for what they need.

Could you benefit from saving time and effort? I'll bet you could.
